To my students and visitors,
Martial Arts is more than self defense, its scope and depth goes far beyond
combinations, kempo's and forms. Martial Arts is a philosophy, a way of life for me,
my family, and my inner circle of friends. I was hesitant to start a school in this
economy because people have so little discretionary spending power. I also was
torn between my love for Martial Arts and the economic pains of running a business.
I was fearful that successful business practices would spoil Martial Arts for me,
drive wedges and cause irreparable damages to very important relationships in my
life. Their is no yin without yang, no peace without war, and no reward without risk.
We cannot know one without the other. I prayed long and hard and sought the
council of my very best friends and mentors and with careful deliberation and much
planning we had a concept. This concept gave birth to Kempo Defense Systems.
Quite simply explained, we are a traditional school teaching traditional Martial Arts,
our foundation is rooted in principle, and our principles are ancient beyond
measure. It is our approach to teaching that makes us unique, we are progressive in
our methods because times change and Martial Arts must evolve or the traditional
schools will die out. As instructors we continue our training, we perfect our skills,
and we hope to extract everything we can from our Masters and our system. We
also come to the realization that there is a time in our journey that we must give
something back to the system that gave so much to us. Our contribution is Kempo
Defense Systems. Inspired by our love for the Martial Arts, fueled by our passion for
perfection in the Martial Arts, and dedicated to the advancement of Martial Arts. Our
promise to you our students is, we will run our school professionally, we will always
have your best interests at heart and we will never let ego meddle with intent. We
will humbly instruct you in the venerable art of Shaolin Kempo, we will start you on
your martial journey and wish you well when our paths no longer remain the same.
We will always give you the very best that we have to offer, and we will hold nothing
back. Your kind e-mails and well wishes have had an immeasurable effect on my
staff and I, and I will do my very best to see that we live up to, and exceed your
expectations. I have no idea what the future holds in store for myself or Kempo
Defense Systems, what I am sure of, is we too will grow and evolve, but for now I am
both honored and happy to share my journey with you.
